Ever since the first Industrial Micromachine Exhibition held in 1990, this exhibition has grown in step with the development of micromachines and MEMS and has become the industry’s largest scale specialized trade fair. Introducing not only the MEMS fields relating to the manufacture of sensors, gyroscopes and optical devices, but also the microfabrication technologies targeting wide range of other fields i.e. microfluidic devices and micromachines in medical and biotech applications. Nano and micro fabrication will continuously be the key technology for various manufacturing and industries. It showcases the elemental technologies which support the practical application and advancement of next generation robots (service robots), a field in which MEMS devices are applied as sensors. Service robots, which can make up for low birthrate and aging population, and compensate labor shortage, are the second largest growth field following the field of motor industry. The 4th ROBOTECH, in addition to showcasing devices such as sensors and actuators, will contribute to realize safe, secure and affluent society in the future by promoting the fusion of these technologies with IT fields such as image processing, automatic control and information technologies.
