Toyota's materials handling arm restructures

Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO) has restructured the management and operations structure of Toyota Material Handling North America (TMHNA), which includes both the Toyota and Raymond brands of lift trucks.

The company says this restructuring—which stems from a long-term growth plan the company launched in 2005—will allow all TMHNA organizations to better collaborate on business efficiencies.

The other aim of the restructuring is to share resources in order to improve quality, service and support.

“Today we are further evolving TMHNA’s capabilities to better leverage the knowledge and expertise throughout our North American companies,” said Tatsuo Matsuura, chairman of the Toyota Material Handling Group (TMHG).

Who, what, where

TMHNA is made up of Toyota Industrial Equipment Mfg Inc (TIEM), the company's Indiana-based lift-truck manufacturing plant; Toyota Material Handling USA Inc (TMHU), a supplier of lift trucks; and the Raymond Corporation, a provider of electric warehouse trucks.

TMHNA will be headquartered at Toyota’s TIEM facilities in Indiana.

The new management and operations structure will help strengthen North American regional co-ordination while maintaining distribution channels for Toyota and Raymond.

Appointments

The reorganization will also mean a number of new appointments, which will take effect April 1, 2010.

Kazue Sasaki will be appointed chairman of TMHNA and will continue to serve as president of TIEM and Toyota Industries North America, Inc.

James Malvaso will take on the position of president and CEO of TMHNA and will resign as president and CEO of Raymond.

Charles Pascarelli will be the new president of the Raymond Sales division.

Michael Field will be appointed president of the Raymond operations division.

Brett Wood will continue to serve as president for TMHU.

Ed Rompala will serve as CFO for TMHNA and will remain CFO for Raymond.

Hitoshi Matsuoka will be appointed TMHNA executive co-ordinator, and will remain as executive vice-president/treasurer for TMHU.

Finally, Kazuhiro Kurosaka will be appointed TMHNA co-ordinator, in addition to serving as finance and planning coordinator for TIEM.
