American Castings LLC, Pryor, Okla., has invested in a process control system it expects will improve the stability and efficiency of its metallurgical processes.
The ATAS process control system was provided by Novacast USA Inc., Chicago.
A subsidiary of American Cast Iron Pipe Co. (ACIPCO), Birmingham, Ala., American Castings produces gray and ductile iron castings for commercial customers. According to NovaCast, ATAS is a resource for controlling and monitoring the melt and treatment processes for gray and ductile iron. The American Castings order includes installation and six months of support in process development.
ACIPCO is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of ductile iron pipe, fire hydrants and valves for the waterworks industry, as well as electric-resistance steel pipes for oil and natural gas pipelines.
