Turkish tool and mould industry to grow 15% this year 2012-04-23

In an exclusive interview with ETMM, the chairman of UKUB, the association of Turkey’s tool manufacturers, said the country’s mould making industry will grow by 15% this year and sales will exceed $800 million. Chairman Samil Ozogul also noted that half of mould sales in 2011 were earned through exports.

U.S. Machine Tool Orders Rebound in February 2012-04-17

Manufacturers’ new orders for machine tools and related technology rose 9.3% to $444.06 million in February from $406.34 million in January, and up 35.2% over the $328.44 million recorded in February 2011. The information is contained in the U.S. Manufacturing Technology Orders (USMTO) report, maintained and issued by AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology and based actual data collected from participating companies.

Indiana Machining Group Adding Eighth Plant 2012-04-02

Busche Enterprise Division Inc., an Indiana machining group, is investing $17.4 million to add 36,000 sq.ft. of new manufacturing space, at a new location near its headquarters in Albion, Ind. The project will add new CNC machining capacity for Busche’s production of steering and brake components, and may lead to as many as 120 new employees by 2015.

GE Gains Large-Scale Contract for Wind Turbines 2012-03-08

General Electric reports it has a contract to supply 41 wind turbines for four projects being developed in Germany by Energiekontor AG. The value of the order is not known, but GE said the turbines would be capable of producing 250 million kilowatts of electricity annually, which would be equivalent to the demand of more than 70,000 homes.

February Manufacturing Activity Grows, but Disappoints 2012-03-03

U.S. manufacturing activity increased in February, according to the Institute for Supply Management’s Purchasing Managers’ Index, but the rate of growth declined for the first time in three months. The news disappointed analysts, who suggested a range of explanations involving higher fuel and raw materials prices, and less robust consumer activity, for the slower rate of domestic manufacturing.

Annual Industrial Production Growing at 7.5 Percent in U.S market 2012-02-10

The consumer durable goods industrial production index was 86.5 in December 2011. December is typically one of two seasonal lows in the industrial production data. While December saw the second lowest index value in 2011, the reading was 9.2 percent higher than in December 2010. The one-month rate of change has grown by more than 9 percent each of the three months prior.
